But is Jesus "that's all?"
Riflessioni del tempo d’Avvento di Luigi Testa*
Some men, carrying a man who was paralyzed onto a bed, tried to bring him in and place him in front of him (...) Seeing their faith, Jesus said: «Man, your sins are forgiven» (Luke 5:18;20)
Maybe you expected that joy would erupt at that phrase - "Your sins are forgiven" - but instead nothing. Their eyes are lowered, their faces disappointed. Even the paralyzed man will have thought sadly: "But I was hoping to run tonight, to walk, to dance...".
I have many things that crowd my heart that I would like to ask you this Christmas. So many needs, so many hungers, so many thirsts... Don't let me go away disappointed - "Is that all?" - when instead you tell me that you have come to give me back only innocence and peace in the heart.
