The Cornerstone project was created to respond to the need to listen and welcome Christian LGBT+ people; is a path of training and ecumenical dialogue that aims to promote the welcome and inclusion of LGBT+ believers in communities of faith.

Here you will find updates, resources and testimonials that illustrate our commitment to building a network of support and understanding on these issues.

The Cornerstone project is coordinated by La Tenda di Gionata, an organization in Italy that deals with the reception and support of LGBT+ believers, their families and the pastoral workers who accompany them. The Cornerstone project is also supported by: the Faith, Gender and Sexuality Commission of the Baptist, Methodist and Waldensian churchesand from Italian Evangelical Youth Federation (FGEI) and by some Christian realities from different parts of the world: Drachma Malta, Global Network of Rainbow Catholics, China Catholic Rainbow Community (China) e Rainbow Home of Seven Sisters – RHOSS (India).

The 2025 edition of the Cornerstone project is co-financed by the fund Eight Per Thousand of the Waldensian Church (OPM/2024/47240)

We understand that LGBT+ believers may feel rejected and face walls of silence, and ministers may feel unprepared to fill gaps or engage in complex dialogues.

That's why we want it

  • promote mutual training between volunteers and pastoral workers on inclusion and support.
  • Create practical resources for welcoming faith communities.
  • Organize events and awareness campaigns to break down stereotypes and prejudices.
