We too, just under the angels, are sent (Matteo 10: 1-7)
Reflections by Don Fabio
"... what is man because you remember, and the son of man because you care about it? Yet you did it just under the angels, of glory and honor you crowned him." (From Psalm 8)
Matteo 10: 1-7: "The twelve disciples called to themselves, Jesus gave them power over the impure spirits to drive them away and heal all diseases and all infirmity".
In writing the numbers, you know, have a symbolic meaning, as well as many other expressions used by the evangelists. They are not to be taken in the strict and closed sense, defined.
The "twelve" and its multiples indicates the number of patriarchs, of the tribes of Israel, the Vegliardi, etc. That is, to say, the "called" by the Lord are not only and exclusively those twelve, but still continues to call and send.
It is also interesting the choice that Jesus makes about the people he trusts. Silvano Fausti says: "There are no individuals who stand out for cultural preparation, if you also want by moral level. There are no wise, there are no perfect and there are no Pharisees, scribes, that is, people who are remarkable for the commitment or observance of the law, or for the competence, also, of the law. They are normal, very normal people, who cannot be more normal: fishermen and sinners, contradictory".
In this boggled list of names, we too are there; Each of us who, as the psalm says, have been created just under the angels!
In our little one each of us, with his own potential and fragility, is called and sent. We are all and all disciples and apostles sent by the Lord to continue his mission.
With love, Fabio!
