The emotion of telling each other as a young Christian gay with scouts in the parish
Reflections sent to us by Matteo T. del Group "Il Mandorlo", young Christians LGBT+ from Padua
On Friday evening I had the wonderful opportunity to be hosted by the "Oltre" clan of Salzano, a country of the diocese of Treviso, to give a testimony as a member of the LGBT community. Together with me there was a pair of parents With a homosexual son and a psychologist.
The meeting divided into two parts: the first consisted of a small crosswordborn with various definitions concerning the LGBT theme, the second in listening to the three testimonies told by the undersigned, by the psychologist and the pair of parents.
I must say that I was a bit excited in explaining my story in front of the adults and boys of the clan, because for me it was the first time that I happened to tell it in a country of my diocese.
It was a truly important moment that determined the beginning of a path in the reception (and listening) of the LGBT community. I tried to synthesize my story in a short time because I wanted the adults and the boys to ask me questions, I wanted them to be the protagonists of that convivial moment.
It was great to see that many people, after a melted one could melt the ice, began to ask me many things without fear, in particular adults.
But an even more wonderful thing was when they thanked me for the testimony (there are those who even moved), a sign that made me understand that we members of the LGBT community must make us feel even more.
In fact, I sincerely hope that at this first meeting with the faithful others are added to several parishes of the diocese, also because I believe that dialogue and listening are the best ways to compare themselves with others.
