"From your own words I judge you, a evil servant!" (Luke 19: 11-28)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Jesus gives us himself: even in a crumb of bread there is his whole body, and we can make it fruit in us and for the brothers, or denying it by living in fear and lies.
From the Gospel according to Luke 19: 11-28
At that time, Jesus said a parable, because he was close to Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God should occur at any moment.
He therefore said, "A man of noble family left for a distant country, to receive the title of king and then return. Having called ten of his servants, he handed over ten gold coins, saying: "make them yield to my return". But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation behind him to say: "We don't want him to come to reign on us". After receiving the title of king, he returned and made those servants called the money to know how much everyone had earned.
The first presented himself and said: "Lord, your gold coin has fruity ten." He said to him, “Well, good servant! Since you have shown yourself faithful in the little, you receive power over ten cities ".
Then he presented himself the second and said: "Lord, your gold coin has yielded five." Also to this he said: "You will also be at the head of five cities."
Then came another and said: "Lord, here is your gold coin, which I kept hidden in a handkerchief; I was afraid of you, that you are a severe man: take what you didn't put in storage and hop what you didn't sow. " He replied: “From your same words I judge you, a evil servant! You knew I am a severe man, that I take what I have not put in storage and reaps what I have not sown: why then did you not give my money to a bank? On my return I would have met him with the interests. " He then said to those present, "Remove the golden coin and give it to the one who has ten." They replied: "Lord, he already has ten!". “I tell you: whoever has, will be given; Instead whoever does not have, what he has will also be removed. And those enemies of mine, who did not want me to become king, lead them here and kill them in front of me "».
Give these things, Jesus walked in front of everyone going up towards Jerusalem.
