There is no word in biblical or Jewish Greek which is equivalent to the homosexual word. The Standard Version (RSV) auditor of the New Testament, in 1946, was the first translation of the Bible that erroneously using the homosexual word (in I Cor 6: 9). But there is no word in biblical Greek or in Hebrew for "sodomy“. A sodomita was, for those who wrote the Bible, simply an inhabitant of Sodoma, just like a Torontonian is an inhabitant of Toronto. Only in the institutional church only did the history of Sodom and Gomorrah in the institutional church has been erroneously equated to homosexuality and the word sodomy has come into use with this meaning. Therefore any biblical translation uses words: homosexual, sodomy or sodomita gives an interpretation of biblical words and is not a faithful translation of the original writings.
What did Jesus say about homosexuality?
Jesus had nothing to say about homosexuality. Even if society and the Church define homosexuality as a shame to be banned in a family and among friends, Jesus instead has never mentioned it! He spoke of use of money, adultery, idolatry, divorce, greed, inhospitable and many other topics, but has never mentioned homosexuality. We do not know whether to be gay for him was an "abomination", another word usually linked to homosexuals but which in the Bible means quite more, in fact the word "abominum" refers to the impulity and is usually linked to idolatry, not to sexuality.
On one occasion, Jesus was asked: "Master, what is the greatest commandment of the law? ». He replied: «You will love the Lord your God with all my heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the largest and first of the commandments. And the second is similar to the first: you will love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole law and the prophets ""(Matthew 22: 36-40). Jesus clarified very well that his only law is that of love. If what has been told you are not in agreement with the great commandments of Jesus, what has been told you are wrong. God's love is for everyone, especially for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, intersex and queer! It is no coincidence that Jesus was the first to suffer the refusal of society, that's why he still has a lot to say to LGBT people.
