"The Masse is a lot, but the workers are few" (Luke 10: 1-9)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
The humility of the Lord is equal only to his love. Not only designates an abundant number of apostles, but sends them in front of them. And these workers, in turn, will have to be humble, bare, like their master: because only those who empty each selfishness, of every self -referentiality can make the face of Jesus shine which is the incarnation of free and total love.
From the Gospel according to Luca 10: 1-9
At that time, the Lord designated other seventy -two disciples and sent them two by two ahead to him in every city and place where he was about to go. He said to them: «The Masse is a lot, but the workers are few. So pray the master of the Masse to send workers for his masse. Go: Here I am sending you like Agnelli in the middle of wolves; Do not bring a bag, neither bisaccia, nor sandals and don't say goodbye to anyone along the way. In any house entriate, before say: peace to this house. If there is a son of peace, your peace will go down to him, otherwise he will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they have, because the worker is worthy of his merced. Don't go home at home. When you enter a city and welcome you, eat what will be put in front of you, take care of the sick people who are, and say to them: the kingdom of God has approached you ».
