We follow the debate on the Zan law
By the volunteers of the Gionata Project
The text of the Zan law against homotransphobia is finally being discussed in the Chamber these days. Let's follow the debate. Now:
- The law, in its formation process, has in the meantime also included other categories who are often victims of hate crimes. With a majority amendment presented by the Hon. Noja, the Chamber unanimously approved the extension of the effects of the law to disabled people.
- The constitutionality preliminary rulings presented by the League and the Brothers of Italy were rejected
- A measure was approved that eliminates all 800 obstructionist amendments
- An amendment presented by the League was rejected, in which it was repeated for the umpteenth time the need to save the "freedom" to express homophobic concepts
- Various minority amendments were rejected which called for the elimination, completely or in parts, of Article 1, which is precisely the one which talks about aggravating sentences
- A minority amendment was rejected in which it was proposed to specify which types of punishable acts are and which are to be ascribed to freedom of opinion
- The other various amendments are being discussed
- The final vote is expected later this week or early next week
