"What are you looking for?" "Come and you will see" to the LGBT+ Christian group of Modena
"What are you looking for?" he said to them.
"Rabbi, where do you live?" He said to them, "Come and see."
This brief dialogue of the Gospel of Giovanni gave its name to the group of Christians LGBT+ and pastoral operators of Modena, a group born during the difficult months of the isolation due to pandemic to be a welcoming, comparison and spirituality space together with LGBT+ Christians and pastoral workers.
This experience, which has now reached its second year of life, continues guided by its participants and by the two priests who supported and hosted us from the beginning in the parish spaces.
From this journey was born the first prayer vigil in Modena for overcoming homobitransphobia: a time to remember and support all the people who are still victims of discrimination, hatred or violence due to their sexual orientation or their gender identity, also encouraged by the words of our bishop who reminded us in prayer and underlined how "Each person, regardless of his sexual orientation, must be respected in his dignity and welcomed with respect, with the care of avoiding every brand of unjust discrimination and particularly any form of aggression and violence»(Amoris Laetitia n. 250).
Growing up in listening to the Word of God and in mutual listening, by humbly putting ourselves on the way together, you can better identify the "unjust discrimination" and effectively contrast the "phobias", which are always vehicles of aggression and hatred.
Receivewithout discrimination and prejudices, accompanyin human and spiritual growth, testifywith our active participation in communities e raise awareness of respectof the LGBT+ person as such are the key elements of this dialogue space present in the diocese of Modena.
The encounters, initially virtual, now continue in presence, every month, with various initiatives and proposals both convivial and prayer, with the aim of networking among the LGBT+ believers, friends and pastoral workers who feel the need to confront or still live today unfortunately situations of solitude due to their affectivity or their gender identity because they are Christian.
