"Who will be ashamed of me and my words ..." (Marco 8: 34-38.9: 1)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Jesus is the seed that, dying, gives much fruit: and this is the path that must follow who wants to imitate him. In a world where being first means gaining fame and power, for Jesus, however, being first means being ready to undress everything in order not to undress of God and his love.
From the Gospel according to Marco 8: 34-38.9: 1
At that time, convened the crowd with his disciples, Jesus said to them: «If someone wants to come behind me deny himself, take his cross and follow me. Because whoever wants to save their lives will lose it; But who will lose his life for my and the Gospel, will save it. In fact, that it is useful to man to earn the whole world, if he then loses his soul? And what could a man ever give in exchange for his soul? Who will be ashamed of me and my words in front of this adulterous and sinful generation, even the son of man will be ashamed of him, when he comes to the glory of his father with the Holy Angels ». And he said to them: "In truth I tell you: there are some present here, who will not die without having seen the kingdom of God come with power".
