EuroPride in Rome 2011. Homosexual Christians are moving!
It’s already begun the long path of glbt groups of believers to organize vigils for the victims of homophobia on May 17th, 2011, this year with the European groups of the European forum of lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender christian groups.
But after Vigils for the victims of homophobia there is another initiative in which the Italian groups have decided to engage, the EuroPride 2011 in Rome.
In fact, on June 11th, 2011, in the shadow of the dome of St. Peter, there will march the great parade of EuroPride, an event which will be preceded and followed by a rich calendar of cultural events and discussions.
The presence of italian homosexual Christians at Europride will have a special feature, it will try to be the testimony of a path and at the same time a support between the reality of homosexual persons and our churches.
The group Nuova Proposta in Rome is just working, with the help of the volunteers of Progetto Gionata and the italian and european groups of homosexual Christians to organize, during the Europride, a series of initiatives of reflection about faith and homosexuality.
Three events will be at the heart of this path:
-Friday, June 10th, 2011 an european conference, discuss about “the reception of homosexual people in the european churches.
Is something going to change? Problems and prospects ”.
We will discuss about the pastoral for the reception of gay people of Catholic dioceses in Torino, Cremona, Parma and Crema and about the initiative of the Catholic Masses for the homosexuals of Soho (London), from the marriage of homosexual couples of the Lutheran Church to the blessing for the same-sex couples of the waldensian church, about the openings of Spanish and German churches, to the closures of the orthodox churches.
An important event to which all Christians, homosexuals and not, are invited to attend.
The Conference will be followed by a moment of prayer with all groups of Italian and European believers who are at Europride in Rome.
-Friday, June 11th, 2011, the Italian and European groups will participate to the Europride parade behind the banner of the European forum of lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender christian groups (European Forum of Christian groups of lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender) which, on that day, significantly, will stop in Rome.
The week before the EuroPride, a stand about faith and homosexuality, animated by homosexual groups of italian believers, will offer listening, comparison and will distribute books and brochures on ‘ faith and homosexuality ‘ to those who want to learn more about it.
We know. Perhaps someone cannot or won’t be at Europride, but we believe it is important to continue questioning our society and our churches on the theme of the reception.
Each of us has the task of giving his/her contribution because ‘we make the path’ all together.

Dario, Caterina, Bernardo, Natascia, Andrea, Alessandra are homosexual and christian persons and belong to the group “Nuova Proposta, homosexual christian women and men” from Rome.
They spent their faces and their voices to realize a five-minute video, now on YouTube, to tell, in Italian with english subtitles, that this year italian and european homosexual Christians will attend the Euro Pride 2011 in Rome (June 1st to 12th 2011) “to say out loud that we do exist, that we should not give our spirituality up … firmly and yet serenely accepting the comparison with those who judge us, because we know God is Love and no one will separate us from this Love” …
