Italian LGBT Christians to meet in Rome, 26-28th March 2010
The so-called “Forum italiano dei cristiani omosessuali” will occur 30 years after the birth of the first Italian LGBT Christian group, il Guado (Milan).
During the weekend, we will present the 2010 Report on LGBT Christians in Italy, edited by Gionata and based on a survey on a large sample of local groups and associations.
Among the key note speakers, we invited Marco Politi, Vatican expert of the newspaper La Repubblica and influential author of several books including “The Confession. Story of a gay priest” and the “Church of the No”.
During the meeting, there will be speeches by some leaders of the Italian groups, in particular, presentations based on experiences in the Catholic diocese of Turin, Cremona, Parma, Padua, in some dioceses of southern Italy, in the Waldensian Church and in Milan, after 30 years of Guado activities.
The workshops will take place on Saturday afternoon and will be based on sharing personal experiences. A special workshop will be dedicated to the present and the future of the Italian LGBT Christian groups and associations.
The forum will finish on Sunday 28 March with a plenary meeting and an ecumenical prayer.
I wish you all the best for this new Year and I will keep you informed about the main outcomes of the meeting.
